About Jason Gray
"Truly, truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a seed; but if it dies, it bears much fruit." John 12:24
The human spirit is something like a muscle in that it must be pushed to its limits and torn down in order to grow. 3 words to describe this process of transformation are order, disorder, and reorder.
Order is when everything is going according to our plan. We’re using all that we’ve learned so far to put our lives together with stability and security.
Disorder is when our plan falls apart. We find we weren’t as in control as we thought we were and there is more we need to learn. Reminded of our vulnerability, we are broken down and opened up enough to meet with God in a profound way.
Reorder is when we emerge from disorder transformed by what we learned and by having met with God in a way that changed us. We are wiser, kinder, more humble, and stronger than before.
Today’s reorder becomes tomorrow’s order, and the cycle begins again. Recognizing this helps me panic less and trust more.
I wrote some songs to explore these themes and decided to release them in three volumes: “Order,” “Disorder,” and “Reorder,” giving time and space for reflecting on one part of the journey before digging into the next.
Volume 1: Order releases August 16. It’s a 5 song reflection on what I think of as the kind of base-line wisdom that is foundational for future discovery: the humility that recognizes we are works in progress (“Becoming“), the simple gratitude for the gift and giver of life (“Maker Of Mornings“), the necessity of childlikeness (“The Wonder“), the peace of living surrendered (“I’m Gonna Let it Go“), and the hope that the author and finisher of our faith is always at work in the roller coaster ride of transformation (“Order Disorder Reorder“).

"I do my best to write the songs I need to hear, in hopes that you might need to hear them, too. I used to think that being a Christian meant having things all together, but the longer I’ve followed Jesus, the more I’ve realized that I call myself a Christian because I don’t have it all together. I need someone to hold me together, and that’s Jesus. I’ve been on quite a mental health journey in the last decade or so. I’ve struggled with anxiety, panic attacks, depression, alcohol addiction, and chronic physical pain. These have all taken a toll on my mental and spiritual health. I used to try to deal with these things alone. Not anymore. I can’t do this by myself. Through prayer, meditation, church, medication, exercise, therapy, healthy eating, family and friends, I’m taking life on life’s terms now, one day at a time. I’m about 7 years sober from alcohol, and though I still struggle with anxiety sometimes, it’s more right-sized than it used to be. Jesus was and is my rock and he holds me together, even when things fall apart. I’m planning to release 24 songs in 2024, and they tell the story of what I’ve been through. I hope this music gives you peace and encouragement. You’re not alone. Jesus loves you and so do I."
This Texas-native started playing piano at nine years old, then took up guitar and drums when he was 10. From there, he never looked back. During his high school years, he continued to hone his musicianship, and eventually he fell in love with songwriting at Nashville’s Belmont University. A self-described introvert with an aversion to the spotlight, Wilson never dreamed he’d be the one behind the mic, but God had other plans.
Since signing his first record deal with Sparrow in 2006, Wilson has become a staple at radio, amassing multiple top 10 Billboard hits, including “Savior, Please,” “I Refuse,” “Fall Apart,” “Carry Me,” “Before the Morning,” “That Was Then, This Is Now,” “Dream Small,” and “Revolutionary." He’s toured with some of the genre’s biggest acts, including Third Day, Steven Curtis Chapman, Matthew West, and Casting Crowns.
Wilson continues to write, record, and tour year-round. As a multi-instrumentalist and live-looping enthusiast, he’s been known to play and record as many as 20 instruments on stage at any given time.
